Prof. dr. Joke Meijer is professor of Neurophysiology at the Leids Universitair Medical Centre (LUMC). She is head of the Circadian Clocks lab in which 24-hour rhythms in bodily functions are investigated, particularly in challenging conditions such as artificial illumination and shift work. Professor Meijer is also appointed as a fellow of the Royal Academy of Sciences and has obtained a full Professorship in 2007. She is also appointed as a visiting professor at Oxford University and ‘Member at Large’ of the Society for Research on Biological Rhythms. Her work is characterized by a multidisciplinary approach, combining electrophysiological recordings with modern imaging techniques. More information can be found here and on her personal website.
