I work at the Clinical Psychology Unit of the Institute of Psychology at Leiden University. In our project we will evaluate and try to restore 24-h rhythms to combat mood disorders. We will use advanced neuroimaging techniques like MRI and I will tackle the question which brain mechanisms make light therapy a successful antidepressant treatment. Furthermore, within a multicenter randomized control trial in collaboration with Eindhoven University of Technology we will assess the effects of chronotherapeutic treatment and light therapy on the restauration of the biological clock in patients with depression.
The BioClock Consortium is funded by the NWA-ORC programme of the Dutch Research Council (NWO; project number 1292.19.077).
