Dr. Gerard Oostermeijer
Dr. Gerard Oostermeijer is assistant professor in Conservation Biology in the Evolution and Population Biology group of the Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics of the University of Amsterdam. His research focuses on the viability of small and fragmented populations and metapopulations of endangered species. Population Viability Analysis requires knowledge of processes at many scales, ranging from the gene to the landscape. This involves research on in- and outbreeding depression, demographic-genetic PVA models, invasive species, pollination ecology, plant breeding systems, population genetic structure and gene flow.
