It was a big celebration in Katwijk’s duinvallei. The mayor and BioClock professor Joke Meijer recently planted the first seeds there for a brand-new BioClock garden!
The garden is part of “Zanderijtuinders 2.0/Duinlandjes,” an initiative by Gerard Bol. The BioClock garden will feature flowers that bloom at different times of the day. Think of the moonflower that opens in the evening, and the daisy that loves to bloom in the sunshine.
Accompanied by information signs and teaching materials, the garden introduces children and adults to the biological clock of both plants and humans in a playful way.
The opening of this new garden in Katwijk received a lot of attention. You could read about it in De Weekendkrant. and de Katwijksche Post. Last weekend, Gerard Bol was even a guest on RTV Katwijk radio, where he invited listeners to come take a look once the garden blooms. Schools in the Duin- and Bollen area will be approached to come for a visit.
